Established designer franky claeys adopts an integrated multidisciplinary approach towards the projects he is involved in, rejecting traditional boundaries and silo thinking between disciplines and cultures, between business and art.
As a civil engineer and an established industrial designer, franky easily eliminates borders between techniques creating a total experience design that translate into singular brand experiences. A holistic approach which seamlessly merges retail and interior design, exhibition design, product development, furniture design, graphic design, photography and video direction.
His involvements range from projects with Raf Simons and Veronique Branquinho in the fashion industry to working with both underground as established artists on innovating projects. Yoko Ono asked him to cooperate on her Open Windows art project, Justin Timberlake, Foo Fighters and Michael Bublé are just a few of the artists that have a music award designed by franky claeys in their cabinet.
Vision Fragments, franky’s solo project, gives contemporary artists of diverse disciplines the opportunity to showcase their work through a series of images for a calendar, creating a crossover between object and graphic design. The common denominators in this project: perspectives and opinions.
Most recently, he created the complete brand experience of the Mercedes WY restaurant in Brussels. The interior design, furniture design, the directing and shooting of the promotional video, the creation of the logo and visuals for the Ipad menu; everything is part of a design that delivers a total experience.
His obsession with perfection and the faultless implementation of the projects he is involved with brings him to push limits therefore creating new perspectives. No wonder major brands like Nike, Levi Strauss, Olympus and Philips rely on his expertise to meet with the increasing demands of their customers from all over the world.
